No Auto-Updating, Auto-Pinging RSS Feed?

You Need to Stop Messing Around and Get One

I'm not real big on hammering you about why you need this script, so there isn't going to be a whole lot of stuff about how it's better than everything including sex (it's not quite that good) or why it'll make you rich overnight (it won't) or how you'll regret it forever if you don't get it immediately (hmmm. OK, you might, but you will be able to get it later, though it might be more expensive).

Almost certainly you are a website owner even if you aren't an Internet Marketer.  Which means you've read a zillion nearly identical high tech sales letters that came out of the cookie cutter.  If you need another one, you're in the wrong place.

Even though I'm really tired of endless sales letters this page turned out to be longer than I thought it would be (read on, at least there are no nasty yellow highlights or endless testimonial boxes about how it rocks). If you already know you want it, you can Order Now

Why Site Feeder Exists

I was finishing an XSitePro site and it seemed like there was something missing. So I looked through the manual and such and sure enough, it was missing.

No RSS feed. Ever since I started building sites (well, a little after my first actually), I've been using RSS feeds as an SEM tactic and traffic source. It seems to me that any site will benefit from an RSS feed. We need all the help we can get and RSS can help a lot. So I wrote some code and now that site's got a self-updating, self-pinging feed.

What Site Feeder Is

Based on the structure of the XSitePro alphabetical sitemap with descriptions, SiteFeeder:

  • Reads the sitemap file
  • Builds a cache file
  • Writes it to the cache directory
  • Checks the timestamp on the cache
  • Rebuilds when the cache time to live has expired
  • Extracts titles, links and descriptions from the sitemap to store in the cache
  • Excludes any pages which you enter in the setup panel by page title
  • Randomly selects the number of items you set
  • Creates the xml RSS 2.0 file headers, channel description, etc., adds the items and the file footers and writes the file
  • Pings rpc.pingomatic.com (if you turn on pinging in setup)
  • Sends you a notification email of the new build with the ping response (if you enter an email address in setup).

Since it was originally designed to work with XSitePro sites, it's quick and easy, and an auto-updating, pinging RSS feed is a feature that Paul tells me is still a long way off. I checked with him before putting up this offer since I know how he is about improving and extending XSitePro and if a built-in feed was coming soon, a lot of people might just wait even though SiteFeeder would give them a headstart - and even though it can be used on non-XStePro sites. So if you have XSitePro, SiteFeeder gives your sites an edge that will NOT be replaced by built-in functions anytime soon.

And It's Not Just for XSitePro

While the code looks for a specific structure that was derived from the XSitePro alphabetical sitemap with descriptions, it will run off any source file with that structure. So, if you have sites with a sitemap with descriptions and the same structure, or if you have a content program like Article Miner or Article Automator which uses templates and generates "snippet" files then you can use this with those too.

The manual explains, in detail, the structure the program uses and provides templates that can be used to generate source files for Site Feeder from Article Miner and Article Automator. Any program that generates a sitemap with descriptions - or a snippet file - and which uses templates should be able to generate a source file you can use with Site Feeder

Will Setup Make You Crazy?

It shouldn't. There are detailed instructions in both a pdf manual (with screenprints) and a text Readme file. I'm whacko about instructions. I've gotten way too much stuff that has unintelligble and/or inadequate instructions that drove me berserk.  No one should have to read the code to figure out how to install something.  My manuals may be overkill, but they will tell you what to do and how to do it - with pictures.

Now you do need Linux/Unix hosting with php, the ability to upload files, create directories, change permissions and run Cron jobs. This is all standard stuff for any decent host.

The actual setup and configuration for the script is done through a password-protected browser-based control panel which makes configuration simple. I'm also a little whacked about making configuration easy. So, there's embedded help text for every item.

Is it better than sliced bread?

Mostly, except maybe black Russian Rye with caraway seeds.

Must you have it? You're kidding, right? Of course you must if you use XSitePro and don't want to wait until it eventually gets an RSS feed. Or if you have an article based site and the capability of generating a template-based 'snippet' type file.  This is what it's about these days. There are consumers you'll never get to without RSS, there are - more and more - directories you want to be in - and they're RSS feed directories.  You can wait and be behind the curve or you can do it now. Get in before you've just got to have a feed.  Some of you may think I'm blowing this out of proportion.  Not so. Check out the big sites with lots and lots of traffic and high rankings. Look for those little orange RSS feed icons.  Guess which ones will still be high traffic sites 6 months or a year from now? Guess which ones will tap into a whole new market segment.

This isn't magic.  It won't make a crummy site into a first page result. But it will help any site do better than it would without an RSS feed.

And Site Feeder is ready to go to work for you now - Order Now!

Getting traffic is probably the number one problem for any site.

Let's face it, nearly every other aspect of creating and setting up a site is fairly minor compared to the issue of getting traffic. Some of the easy shortcuts like buying links, link exchanges, reciprocal linking, brain-dead overkill blog-and-pinging are getting outright dangerous and/or ineffective. However, RSS is here to stay.

A number of programs (like Article Miner, Article Automator, stand-alone xml generators etc) can be used to create a feed. But what do you do then?

Now you've got a static feed that just sits there. Are you going to hand edit it? Randomize it? Generate 50 10 item feeds and swap them around somehow? And how are you going to announce the feed each time you modify it? Go to pingomatic at least once or twice a day and resubmit by hand?

Most likely you aren't going to do much of anything with it except maybe use it as source for a blog posting program (which is, of course, a very good idea). Or you're going to forget it and do something that seems more productive.

But with Site Feeder you'll have an RSS feed which changes regularly - at intervals you set - that has a reasonable number of randomly selected items and that can ping pingomatic on auto. Then you can go ahead and submit it to RSS directories and it won't be a dead unchanging feed that gets dropped. You can provide a service for your visitors, expand your site's presence and increase your traffic.

In addition, if you allow syndication, your feed could be picked up and displayed on other sites giving you backlinks. And, of course, you can also now display your own feed items on your other sites or blogs, sensibly and appropriately, naturally, for additional linking.

So, what do you think, do you need it?

If so, right now, Site Feeder is available for only US $57.

And, yes, there is a bonus item: Impact PopUp is simple program that allows you to add 'sticky' note type popovers to your site.  XSitePro, of course, creates a variety of popups, but they don't include the high impact sticky style. I sell Impact PopUp for $37, but it is included at no additional cost with SiteFeeder.  You can view the really long sales page for it here: Impact PopUp (it will open in a new window).

Want more info? Download the pdf Manual.

If you'd like to download the pdf manual for more information on what it does, how to set it up and use it, you can get the link emailed to you. You'll need to send an email (from an account you can check) by clicking on which will start up your email program. You should get an email very quickly (if your Service Provider doesn't block it) with the download link.

By the way, this script is unencrypted, unobfuscated code, meaning if you know what you're doing you can modify it - but, please, for your own use only. It's unencrypted but copyright protected.

Refunds make everybody unhappy so please don't buy it if you can't meet the requirements to use it. If you have any doubts at all, please download the manual first and read it to see what's involved.

Currently, SiteFeeder is only $57

And you probably should read the Terms and Conditions and Purchase Agreement because by purchasing you are affirming that you have read and agree to the Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions and Purchase Agreement. All of this really tedious stuff is available through the "The Legal Stuff" link.
